Commissions

LAST UPDATED: October 17, 2006

I am glad that you are interested in hiring me! I do commissions on a limited basis. That is, I only take a few at a time. This helps if you have a time-sensitive picture you'd like (birthday, anniversary, holiday gift) and/or if you are not sure if you will have the money months and months from now. By keeping the amount of commissions I take small, I keep my own productivity up. So, read through the info below and e-mail me to see if I have any open slots!

RULES:

  1. Please review my artwork, ability and style before you commission me. Do not expect something radically different than what I've already done.
  2. I reserve the right to refuse any commission for any reason before any money exchanges hands.
  3. Only three "major" edits or re-draws on the preliminary sketch, judged on a case-by-case basis. It's understood that it may not "look right" on the first or second try. If more edits or re-draws are required I reserve the right to charge extra, again on a case-by-case basis.
  4. I retain the copyright for each commission. This means that unless you have express written permission from me, any copies you make of the commission are for personal use only.
    1. If you plan on making more than just personal copies--such as material for posters, prints, T-shirts, flyers, etc.--let me know and I will determine additional pricing based on the scale of your project.
  5. I am not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged items in the mail. (I highly recommend purchasing insurance!)
  6. Half of the total price of the commission (including shipping) is due up front, before any work begins.

WHAT I DO:

WHAT I DON'T DO:

PRICES:

I start with a base price, and add to the total price depending on what you want. Base price includes one character and a simple background (not a lot of detail, not a lot of varying color, etc., something one step up to keep character from floating in "white space")

My prices are flexibile! If you don't think you can quite make it, e-mail me and we can discuss what I can do for you! Let's negotiate! :)

Half of the commission is due before I do any work, and the other half is due on completion. You may pay all at once if that is what you prefer.

I take check or money orders. Do not send cash. I ACCEPT PAYPAL ALSO!!!

PENCILS
(drawn with mechincal pencil):
$15 to start, $5 per each additional character, $5 for more complex background

INKS
 (Micron Pigma inks):
$25 to start, $5 per each additional character, $10 for more complex background

COLOR
(Micron Pigma inks, Prismacolor marker & colored pencil):
$50 to start, $10 per each additional character, $15 for more complex background

SHIPPING PRICES (all in US Dollars):

Shipping rates based on prices given at the United States Postal Service web site. Shipping
costs also include cost of materials, such as the packaging and packing materials, and cost
of shipping labels, ink and toner. I try to pack my stuff very well to minimize or at best eliminate
 damage in transit.

All United States shipments use Priority Mail, which takes about 2-3 days for delivery.
For International shipments I use Global Priority Mail. This can take about a 4-6 days.

Color commission with three characters, complex background, shipping flat w/ insurance in United States:

$60 (Base Price) + $10 (additional character) + $10 (additional character) + $15 (complex background) + $6.00 (Shipping) + $2.30 (Insurance) = $103.30 US (TOTAL)

Again, I take commissions on a limited basis. E-mail me to find out if I have any open slots! Then I will work with you and quote you a price. Once you accept the price send in half of the payment, and I'll begin work on your commission.
